Consumers reporting personal loans

Question

We provided a personal loan to another consumer and want to report their payment history to the credit bureaus.

Answer

The credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, Innovis, TransUnion) require that you must be a legitimate business to report consumer credit. They typically will not allow the reporting of consumer tradelines from another consumer.

Identity Theft Victim

Question

What can we do if we are a victim of identity theft?

Answer

It is recommended that you check your personal credit report on a yearly basis. Carefully review your credit reports for possible fraudulent or suspicious activity and verify the accuracy of your name, social security number, address and employment.

If you have been a victim of identity theft, you should place a ‘fraud alert’ on your credit report by contacting the credit bureaus listed below. For complete instructions and additional information, contact:
